The Mobility House repositions for achieving zero emissions at zero cost

August 27, 2024|Munich, Zurich

  • Fifteen years after its founding, The Mobility House has successfully realized the vision of bidirectional charging. To further enhance its success, the company is now reorganizing into four specialized business units.
  • From now on, the company will operate under the names The Mobility House Energy, The Mobility House Solutions, The Mobility House Charging and The Mobility House North America.
  • This reorganization enables The Mobility House to respond more flexibly and effectively to the dynamic market requirements and needs of its partners and customers, thereby strengthening its leading position in all areas.

Fifteen years after its founding, The Mobility House has reached a significant milestone: customers in France, Germany, and England will soon benefit from an innovative bidirectional energy product that allows for free charging, given sufficient time. The launch will kick off later this year with the bidirectional Renault 5. Given the growing importance of energy market- and grid integration, The Mobility House is repositioning itself by organizing into four independent business units to serve its various growth areas more efficiently.

Thomas Raffeiner, founder and CEO, alongside the Executive Chairman of the Board, Dr. Herbert Diess, is driving the company's further development.

"Since our founding, we have achieved a globally leading position. With the introduction of the new business units, we are taking the next step and aligning ourselves clearly with the needs of our customers. This brings us even closer to our goal of a world with zero emissions at zero cost."

Reorganization into four business units – an overview

In the The Mobility House Energy business unit, the company consolidates the flexibility trading of vehicle and stationary batteries. This is based on the technology modules FlexibilityAggregator and FlexibilityTrader, which have been developed and continuously refined since 2016. On the one hand, decentralized vehicle batteries are aggregated on a platform that accounts for mobility needs, battery aging, and grid connection. On the other hand, intelligent, AI-supported algorithms identify the optimal trading strategy and enable real-time trading decisions in various energy and power markets. Under the leadership of Dr. Raphael Hollinger, this unique technology is being deployed and expanded in collaboration with automotive manufacturers, energy providers, and fleet operators in various European countries. Stationary storage operators also benefit from this commercialization expertise. The existing portfolio of over 100 MWh continues to grow, with the latest example being a collaboration with GESI Green Energy Storage Initiative SE, aimed at commercializing stationary storage in the gigawatt range.

The successful charging solutions business for corporate and logistics fleets, the real estate industry, car dealerships, and charging station operators will continue in the The Mobility House Solutions business unit under the leadership of Heiko Bayer. With market-leading experience from over 2,000 completed projects, the division offers tailored and future-proof charging solutions from planning to operation. The proprietary charging and energy management system, ChargePilot, forms the foundation for a hardware-agnostic, reliable, and cost-optimized operation. This highly scalable technology is continuously developed and is also available to global market partners.

The established charging infrastructure business with over 200,000 products sold will be continued and focused on the The Mobility House Charging business unit under the leadership of Daniel Heydenreich. In addition to the successful online shop for end customers, the focus will be on expanding the commercial B2B customer segment, which already includes over 2,500 electricians and solar installers, as well as 150 energy providers. These partners benefit from a comprehensive product range, excellent availability, tailored offers, and project-specific know-how and support.

The USA, a key growth market for The Mobility House, will remain under the leadership of Gregor Hintler as an independent business unit. In this market, over 100 smart-charging bus and fleet depots have already been implemented or are under construction, some of which also feature bidirectional charging.
