Because there is no alternative to sustainable action for the Hermes Einrichtungs Service, efforts will be made to convert the vehicle fleets within the next few years.
"Our goal is to deliver emissions-free with fully electric trucks in Germany's 80 largest cities by 2030. We aim not only to follow the trend of green logistics but also to be a driving force in its development. That's why we collaborate with strong partners and experts to achieve the maximum impact."
Viviane Reichert-Brown,
Managing Director at Hermes Einrichtungs Service
To achieve this goal, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the charging infrastructure at the Berlin delivery depot of Hermes Einrichtungs Service took place on April 2nd. The logistics company from Löhne in Westphalia relies on the support of The Mobility House - an experienced and internationally operating expert in intelligent charging and energy management systems.
Upon completion of the construction, numerous end customers in Berlin will be supplied with modern electric trucks. With the established charging infrastructure, two-thirds of the daily routes will be delivered emission-free. However, it was a long road to the groundbreaking ceremony. Besides numerous obstacles that had to be overcome, the biggest challenge was the grid connection. Simply expanding the existing grid connection was insufficient. Additionally, a new connection had to be laid by the grid operator "Stromnetz Berlin".
"After a year of implementation planning for the charging infrastructure project at our depot in Berlin Spandau, I am pleased to see the start of construction. Following the preparatory work done in recent months, the installation of the 24 AC charging points by the contracted electrician should be completed on schedule. From June onwards, the already-existing fully electric commercial vehicles will be charged with a future-proof charging infrastructure."
Andreas Schmidt,
Head of Corporate Responsibility at Hermes Einrichtungs Service
"Together with Hermes Einrichtungs Service, we are actively shaping the transition to low-emission urban areas. Our hardware-agnostic charging and energy management system, ChargePilot, enables Hermes not only to save costs during the setup and operation of their electric truck fleet but also to efficiently charge more vehicles per location. The next step will be the intelligent integration into the energy market and cost-effective charging with green energy. This way, we are redefining the total cost of ownership for electric fleets."
