Electric car drivers have particularly high electricity requirements - and are therefore price-sensitive: according to a recent study by LCP Delta, 25% of electric car drivers surveyed would change their current electricity tariff.1 With an innovative car electricity tariff, energy suppliers can combine smart charging, grid stability and the integration of renewable energies - and at the same time offer customers an attractive alternative to the numerous dynamic tariffs offered by new competitors.
To offer a sustainable and cost-efficient energy solution in this dynamic market environment, the energy supply company RheinEnergie is now cooperating with The Mobility House GmbH. The customized “ChargeFlex” electricity tariff for households and electric cars strengthens customer loyalty and, in terms of charging costs alone, customers can save up to €250 per year.
Intelligent technology for maximum savings
The customer interface is the FlexConnect app from The Mobility House - a smart charging app in RheinEnergie's corporate design that gives customers full control: it provides an overview of charging processes, their savings and users can easily specify at what time which charge level should be reached. They can also choose whether their electric car should be charged in a way that is optimized for the energy market or PV. In the background, The Mobility House bundles the battery flexibility provided by the electric cars and markets it on the electricity exchange in short-term trading. The resulting savings are passed on to end customers in the form of bonus points, known as FlexCredits. The advantage: energy suppliers do not need large in-house capacities to develop such a product and benefit from The Mobility House's many years of experience in multi-market trading.
Customers save up to 250 euros a year with smart charging
In contrast to dynamic tariffs, which can result in both low and high electricity prices for customers, FlexConnect Smart offers an innovative tariff at a fixed kWh price. RheinEnergie customers can collect FlexCredits through the intelligent charging control system, which they can use to significantly reduce their electricity costs for their electric car. Reimbursement is made directly via the electricity bill, with savings of up to €250 per year.
"With our solution, utilities such as RheinEnergie can not only strengthen the loyalty of their e-mobility customers, but also offer them significant cost savings. Our sophisticated technology ensures smooth implementation and supports energy suppliers in expanding their portfolio to include sustainable offerings."

Efficient task sharing and rapid market launch
The partnership between RheinEnergie and The Mobility House is characterized by a clear division of responsibilities. RheinEnergie will remain the central point of contact for customers and will continue to be responsible for the long-term procurement of electricity volumes, the billing of flexibility bonuses on electricity bills and the provision of smart metering systems. The Mobility House takes care of technology integration and bears the energy purchasing risk.
Thanks to the white label approach, the new tariff option was quickly introduced to the market. RheinEnergie customers can therefore already benefit from the advantages of FlexConnect Smart technology.
A win-win situation for everyone involved
With this partnership, RheinEnergie and The Mobility House are setting a new standard in the field of smart car electricity tariffs and creating a win-win situation for everyone involved: end customers enjoy cost benefits and maximum flexibility, while energy suppliers expand their portfolio in an innovative and sustainable way.
