Jacobs Group relies on The Mobility House for e-mobility

May 08, 2024|Munich, Zurich

  • The Jacobs Group, one of the largest trade groups in the automotive industry, is collaborating with The Mobility House to expand charging infrastructure.
  • At nine locations of the dealership, the charging and energy expert takes care of electrification – from planning and implementation to ongoing operation.
  • With the hardware-agnostic charging and energy management system ChargePilot by The Mobility House, the Jacobs Group controls its charging processes in a way that is intelligent, cost-effective, and future-proof.

Even though there's much discussion about electric car sales, their share is steadily increasing. Currently, the registration rate stands at 18 percent and must significantly rise next year, particularly in light of the reduced CO2 limits from 95 to 81 grams (according to NEFZ). Together with the expert in intelligent charging and energy solutions, The Mobility House, the Jacobs Group is actively preparing for the electric future. The multi-brand operation with 100 years of experience in the Aachen, Düren, Heinsberg, and Bergheim regions represents the brands Volkswagen, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Audi, ŠKODA, SEAT, and CUPRA. Nine locations have already been electrified, with a total of 114 AC and DC charging points for employee company cars, the company fleet, public electric cars, and workshop services. The car dealer employs ChargePilot for intelligent charging and energy management, offering a hardware-agnostic and scalable solution for future expansion stages without incurring high costs. Depending on the use case, this can save up to 70 percent of infrastructure and grid fees or an average of 250 euros per charging point per year.

Comprehensive approach with tailor-made charging solutions

As a multi-brand operation, the Jacobs Group tackles the challenges of electrification, such as the multitude of requirements from various automotive and charging station manufacturers. Thanks to the charging and energy management system which relies on open interfaces, existing charging stations can be integrated and additionally retrofitted to comply with legal metrology requirements, enabling public use and billing. The existing PV system can also be integrated. This ensures efficient and cost-effective operation of the charging stations, prevents peak loads, and considers potential expansions. For the setup of charging solutions, The Mobility House collaborates with a wide network of installation companies. At the same time, employees - from consultation to workshop service - are prepared for the transition to electromobility to adequately address the growing needs of customers. Due to the successful collaboration, further topics are now being tackled together.

"With The Mobility House by our side, we see a multitude of opportunities in e-mobility - whether it's through the sale of electric vehicles, our charging solutions, consulting, or providing charging equipment such as charging cables and wall boxes. Thanks to the partnership, we are well-equipped and ready for electromobility with a scalable solution."

Matthias Schütz,

Managing Director of Jacobs Holding GmbH

"We are delighted that the Jacobs Group relies on our 15 years of expertise in electrifying the automotive trade, and that we can embark on this journey together. This pays off not only for customers but also for employees and operations. Getting started is not always easy for car dealerships. However, those who engage with it now are prepared for the mobility of the future and gain a crucial advantage."

Founder and CEO of The Mobility House
